We need you

Miwatj Health are pleased to offer this position as a part time opportunity of 0.8 FTE or 4 days per week. Based in the Yirrkala Clinic, you will be working closely with our Aboriginal workforce which is critical to our clients success. You’ll be committed to finding the best way to communicate with our clients and our team in order to provide great care in sometimes uncertain circumstances.

You will work in collaboration and report to the Clinic Manager to ensure the management of the office and clinic environment is kept in good order, health and safety requirements are adhered to and confidentiality is maintained at all times.

Core aspects of your role will include:

  • Provide administration support to GP’s, the Clinic Manager and clinical staff when required.
  • Assist in answering phone calls in a professional, courteous and friendly manner, transfer calls to appropriate people or programme areas. Take precise and accurate phone messages, relay messages via Email or deliver to relevant person.
  • Register enrolment and update Medicare, My E-Health Records, and Hospital Administration and maintain/update accurate Patient records.
  • Maintain secure and confidential patient files in Communicare - the computerized patient information and Recall System.
  • Perform reception duties which include preparation for patient visits and assist in the smooth running of the clinic reception area.
  • Fax documents and scan documents as required.
  • Liaise with Patient Liaison Officer/Driver to support the scheduling of Patients pick up’s to attend appointments.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development when required.
  • Support PATS team and other administrative duties as required from time to time

A competitive salary of $53,049 - $57,578 per annum pro-rata (dependent on skills and experience) is available with this part-time position.

  • Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) cultures, values and beliefs, and an understanding of health issues impacting on Aboriginal people in Northern Australia.
  • Sound oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work at a satisfactory level unsupervised as well as within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated sound skills and experience in the use of computerised systems
  • Sound clerical and organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated experience in working in an environment that has direct contact with clients.
  • Possession of a NT Driver license.
